The Importance of Automating Redundant Laboratory Procedures

As laboratory automation continues to advance and develop, we continue to see the need for forward-thinking labs to implement and develop vital laboratory technology. The need to strengthen the diversity of technology used in the automation process means that different and more demanding situations need to be utilized in the development process. The incredible growth that has occurred in high-throughput screening, combinatorial chemistry, analytical testing and diagnostics, among others, is largely owed to the diverse environments that these processes were developed in. Without challenging situations laboratory automation processes will fail to advance in beneficial ways.

Like any piece of laboratory technology, automation processes must constantly be faced by new challenges and setbacks in order to encourage new thinking, new developments and new refinements. In order to improve productivity, elevate the quality of collected experimental data and reduce the time spent on repetitive lab processes, it is important to invest in fascinating new laboratory technology that you believe in. Diversity among schools of thought and the relevant companies who invest and develop new laboratory automation processes depend on the market reaction to gauge where the technology should be headed. Staying invested, keeping up with these developments and staying vocal in the pertinent conversations are all integral aspects of motivating these companies and development teams to continue to diversify and improve the equipment we work with.

Laboratory automation as long been seen as a key tool for improving overall efficiency at any R&D lab. Laboratory technology that regulates repetitive processes allows us to continue to improve every aspect of the way we approach research and development. It is fair to say that there is plenty of work that could not have been completed if not for the precision and reliability that laboratory automation has provided in the past. Furthermore, new academic careers have opened up and become viable career options because of that growing field, expanding the relevant areas of research and diversifying the ways in which we approach these automation processes.

The need and demand for higher efficiency, improved reliability and sustainability means that their work is cut out for them. Indeed, it may seem as if our need for these systems to advance to the point where they're more widely available and more easy to implement may outstrip the bounds of the current research being done. Thankfully the current competition between companies that spearhead developments in laboratory automation means that we can continue to count on new developments emerging, as the need for profitability and success motivates constant R&D.

A Brief History of Scientific Computing

The concept of computing began as early as the cavemen who used their digits to perform calculations. In the realm of science and technology, the place where all the magic happens is the laboratory. However, scientific computing can only be said to have begun with the inventions of machines that solved mathematical problems. The simplest and most probably the earliest device to perform calculations is the abacus which was invented by the Chinese. Scientists like Blaise Pascal and Charles Babbage although at different times, dedicate their time and energy to invent mechanical machines to help with arithmetic problems. Charles Babbage had a breakthrough when he had the idea of the 'analytical engine'. This is essentially where the concept of computers began. After this point more attention was being given to this field as we had a need to compute complex problems in order to understand the universe that we're a part of. The following section of the article, talks briefly about the several stages of development in the field of computing.

Modern Numerical Analysis

Numerical analysis, as we went through earlier, has a rich past dating back to the cavemen. However, what we consider as modern numerical analysis began with the advent of programmable electronic computers which made it much faster and easier to solve large and very complex problems. Since the need to solve such problems was a need of almost every field of human interest, scientific informatics started to develop as a field that focuses on information processing and information systems.

Explosive Breakthroughs

As noted by Robert Anton Wilson, human knowledge has been increasingly doubling since the year 1 C.E. After programmable computers were developed enough, scientific computing started advancing much rapidly and scientists ventured into deeper analysis of mathematical models and quantitative analysis techniques. Numerical simulations and data analysis made way for some of the most useful practical applications that we still use today.

Current Day Computing

Today, we literally have millions of uses for computers and almost every industry on the globe makes use of computers in different ways to different ends. Biomarker Strategies is a company that is developing a live tumor cell testing platform which is expected to improve the treatment of cancer. We certainly have come a long way from turning gears in order to solve simple arithmetic problems. Life science informatics, data mining and information analysis, internet informatics and social computing, to name a few are the fields that are receiving much attention in the recent years.

Learn to Take Care of The Environment With Safety Cabinets

Environment is all about having a safe zone for all living beings where each one can co-exist without having to disturb other's existence, however, there are materials involved that causes hindrance in having a safe environment. It includes reducing or preventing the use of dangerous chemicals, restoring damages to land, water and prevent the use of hazardous material that may contribute to the pollution in the environment. Environmental Safety Equipment helps with relevant products that in turn protect the atmosphere and alternatively helps us from any environmental threats. These equipments could range from simple gloves to safety solutions that could be slightly on the complicated side. There are products designed in a way that protects both indoors and outdoors that in turn protects from the toxic compounds. There are restoration specialists who are trained to work in areas messed up in fire or water and the damage requires expert hands. You need to clean it up, restore whatever you can whether it's a residential space or a commercial space. The restoration market is beaming with quality products and offers solutions in terms of restoring. You can opt for variety of products as the markets supply great cleaning and restoration products. It could easily be your one-stop shop for acquiring accessories and equipment to complete the job with elan.

It's equally important to be knowledgeable about chemical handling if you are working towards a better environment. Chemical Storage is an important part of the safety process. It' purely safety driven as to how you should store chemicals. You can follow certain generic guidelines for safer storage procedures such as, reading the labels of chemicals and trying to follow the storage instructions, storing the chemicals in a proper ventilated area and preferably not to be kept covered. Maintain inventories of every chemical you are using or you have stored, replacing the chemicals after each use and placing the containers to their respective positions. You could opt for glass containers and preferably store the hazardous materials below your eye level to prevent accidents. It's a strict no no to store dangerous chemicals in public areas that are used by many. Avoid using corridors for storage as storing chemicals there could be a big threat to the users. Also, you never know when you would end up in a spill or any accidents. Try to keep the hazardous chemicals separated from each other, that way you can prevent accidents that might occur because of all the chemicals coming together. There are storage requirements indicated as well for various chemicals that can help too if followed to a tee. An alphabetical storage process may not be the wisest of ideas and can do nothing when accidents occur. Certain guidelines if followed properly can create a better and safer environment for everyone.

Contributions of Biology in Civilization

Biology is one of the major disciplines of science which is taught in high school and college for most students. Typically this is a mandatory study required to graduate from high school where students learn a variety of knowledge ranging from anatomy, taxonomy and the interaction of organisms in ecosystems. Biology has played an important role throughout history during the birth of civilization to help differentiate humans from the animal kingdom.

Biology was primarily studied in ancient times as sub discipline of medicine. Physicians were some of the primary contributors to the foundation that formed modern day biology. Biological studies were essential in ancient civilizations as healthcare was almost nonexistent and the need to understand illnesses and anatomy was high value information. Agriculture was a big part of ancient civilizations as it allowed humans to settle into geographic regions without the need to migrate to hunt and gather food sources.

The development of agriculture is one of the leading factors that led to the birth of civilizations worldwide however one of the unintended side effects of the development of cities and urban environments was the increase in disease and infections. This is largely associated with the intermingling of close populations of individuals making the spread of diseases more common and dire in growing cities. For centuries the ability to understand what caused diseases was eluded by most people; germs, bacteria and viruses were not known to humans for centuries while civilizations were being formed.

With the ever growing population of people and an increasing trend in urban settlements, the need to understand life became a primary focus of scientific minds in early human development. Kings and monarchs sought to achieve immortality and the concept of doctors and physicians took a priority in scientific studies. Through this quest for knowledge the foundation of science began to grow in human culture. The ancient Greeks are perhaps the most famous for their hand in forming the basis of modern science.

Civilizations, in their quest for knowledge play an integral role in the foundation of science because individuals have the ability to pursue knowledge instead of having to worry about acquiring food sources. The ancient world had many limitations in their ability to pursue knowledge however after the renaissance era scientific study began to flourish significantly. The concepts of evolution, physics, time and space began to take a forefront over health care and resources in the scientific community. Individuals such as Charles Darwin, Carl Linnaeus, Sir Isaac Newton and Galileo contributed vastly to the knowledge taught in school today.

Making a name in the scientific community is not always as easy discovering a new species of life or developing a new theory. The ability to convince peers in the scientific community is part of the reason we are familiar with some of the names listed above. There have been many scientists whose work was used as the foundation of others yet their names have been lost to history. Ultimately success in the scientific community entails the innovation of an individual and their ability to convince others of their ideas.

Fields of biology have evolved throughout the course of human civilization to investigate and acquire knowledge pertaining to relevant needs of humans such as anatomy, medicine and agriculture. Rate this Article

Earth Science Homework Help

Earth science deals with the study of Earth and geographic evidences grouped under solid earth science or 'Geology', derived from Greek word Geo meaning 'earth' and logy meaning 'study of'. Earth is a huge system and several billion years old as the determination of its age becomes difficult due to the elimination of older rocks by natural ruins. 'Dating' is a technique used to find out the age of global components e.g. tree dating - the tree rings found in trunk establishes its age; one ring is equal to a year. Land, water and space bodies, climatic and atmospheric factors comprise earth science. The structure of the earth includes outer crust, mantle (upper and lower) and core (inner and outer). Lithosphereis made of rocks;the major part of the earth as it is formed of crust and uppermost layer of mantle. Tectonic plates are found in the semi-mantle region and collision of these leads to earthquake and melting of crusts to volcanic eruptions thereby destructing natural environment. These explosions and earthquake imparts a low-frequency energy waves known as seismic waves, that determines the precision of the disasters occurred. Seismograph is used to detect and document earthquakes.

Water covers approximately 70% of earth's surface and the water mixes with the melting hot mantle to become magma and rises to form volcano. These magma or lava develops into igneous rocks. The other two common types of rocks are sedimentary and metamorphic rocks: sedimentary rocks are sediments of rock particles by weathering and metamorphic rocks by transforming one form into another (metamorphosis). Weathering refers to the process of breaking down of rock and travelling through places by water forces like sea, ocean, water currents and beds.

Sun radiates heat energy to the Earths atmosphere and maintains the temperature of the planet. The factors that affect the heat energy are temperature, energy in motion, earth's rotations, revolutions and seasons. Air, water and weather also balance the earth's atmospheric heat. Natural catastrophe is the destruction and damage in nature caused to life and land respectively. The causes for the natural disaster are directly proportional to the human's maintenance of vegetation and wildlife: proper regulatory natural resource management improves the ground but loss of which leads to biological hazards. Flood and cyclones are predictable whereas earthquake, volcanoes along with tsunami are unpredictable. Natural resources are the daily needs of mankind for better living and are categorized based on origin (biotic e.g. flora, fauna and fossil fuel, and abiotic e.g. air, land, water and heavy metals) and renewability(renewable - air and sun, and non-renewable resources - minerals).

4 Ways That Pre-Packaged School Science Experiments Help Students Achieve

With the dawning of the new school year, science educators everywhere find themselves looking for new and inventive ways of giving their students the hands-on experiences demanded by the National Science Education guidelines. Through these hands-on class sessions, your students need to pick up the basic principles of the specific branch of science you are teaching them. Here are 4 ways that school science experiments can help you pack as many techniques and as much practice as possible into individual class sessions in order to make the biggest change for your students.

Attention Grabbing

As your students progress through the pre-packaged materials of your chosen school science experiments, they will discover that they are engrossed in a storyline that they will care about. With such care taken on these plot devices, students will find that they actually care about what they are doing. Not only will the stories in these pre-packaged kits keep your student's attention, but they will serve as the underlying basis for the entire experimental process.

Note Taking

What students can't use more practice in taking notes? As your students work their way through the experiment, not only will they find themselves taking notes on what they are doing, but they will be practicing the scientific method at the same time. Your students will find reason to record every step of their processes, understanding that they will be required to use this information at a later time in order to bring the story line to closure.

Reasoning

As your students work through these National Science Education mandated experiments, they will end up having to think for themselves. They have the story set before them, and they have all the information they require in order to solve the problem at hand. Now, they just have to use their brains and actually bring it all together! Their reasoning skills will be stretched to their limits as they work through the problem in groups and try to come up with a solution that works.

Presenting Results

Your students will even get to work on their presentation skills as they draw the larger pre-packaged school science experiments to a close. They will be given the chance to present their findings in different areas around the school. Some call for presentations to their classmates. Others experiments, a little tougher in nature, call for presentations to teachers or even the principal of the school. Your students will have the chance to perfect their presentation skills while working on everything else.

Most importantly, all of these possibilities are only available from pre-packaged science materials that are available from different educational companies. While you can create individual experiments for your students, you need to ask yourself whether you are capable of giving them the experience that they could be having if your school system relied on these pre-packaged materials instead.

There are many reasons High School Science is important. Larry Bond believes that Science Kits are helpful in educating a child. Because having these materials at skill provides them opportunity to learn and discover more about science.

Brief About Applications of Biology

Biology is the science to study about plants, animals and humans interacting with nature. Biology lays a basis for valuing the life processes by assessing the role of cellular and genetic components conjoining with metabolic and homeostatic activities of life. This science operates everywhere and is applied to different genres highlighting the importance to learn about varied applications of biology. In every facets of life, biology grips a role - sensing, hunger, anger, maintaining metabolism, taking care of families, cooking, and where not? The basic feature of biology is that it connects all the scientific and technical disciplines and reveals the importance of their relations.

The applications of biology are extensively noticed in agricultural industry and human welfare. Agriculture plays pivotal role in meeting the daily demands of food and fodder of living beings. Plants, cereals, rice, wheat, maize, corn, vegetables, fruits and grains are the major food components of humans. Hence, it becomes central to maintain and preserve the vegetative crops from pests and insects. Animals like cattle, goat, fish and poultry farming also partake to enhance the life better for humans. Humans encounter discomforts through diseases and disorders where the importance of biology lies upon discovering treatment ideas and novel drugs. Medicinal, pharmaceutical and drug industries, clinical applications of biology have extended topical development in innovating new and real remedies for satisfying hereditary as well as acquired complications.

Biology looks upon monitoring biodiversity and conservation by enforcing the need of maintaining bio-organisms in a secured environment. Biodiversity is often defines as "gene total of species existing in an ecosystem of a particular region" expounding the disparate volume of life forms in a given ecosystem or planet. The significance of Parks, Zoos and Sanctuaries, establishment of seed and germ banks, imposing afforestation and reforestation, environmental reserve management, and holding a balance between biodiversity and biology - plants, animals, humans, agriculture, industries, human health and ethical issues are the basic principles sustained to manage environmental conservation. Many species have vanished, which urges the requisite for retaining gene pool of the genetically diverse species, and those creatures at the verge of extinction, from becoming extinct.

Gene technology, industrial biotechnology, food and textile microbiology, DNA-RNA recombinant technology, production of biomolecules and manufacturing growth and synthetic hormones implicates the condition of biology in connection for human betterment and improvement in developing drugs and medicines. Hygieneand sanitation helps in keeping clean environment both inside and outside the body. Brushing, flossing, bathing, washing hands before and after lavatory, cutting nails and being fresh ensures dirt-free environment. Sanitizers, toothpastes, soaps, antiseptics and disinfectant solutions are contrived industrially to have our surroundings sterile accentuating the application of biology in maintaining healthy hygiene.

Control Oil Spills With The Right Usage of Spill Kits

Spill Kits has a lot of benefit as they are an important item of every business house. Especially if you are dealing with oil and hazardous chemicals as part of your work, you need to be more cautious and keep such kits handy for instant use. They are available in various forms for dealing with different type of spills that could be either big or small. You always need to take into consideration that mopping a spill is not easy even if it may sound so. The task gets more cumbersome when the spill is oil or some chemical solution. There are specialised kits available in the market today that offers great protection while cleaning up such spills.

These are complicated and have a threat to your health and the atmosphere. There are specific kits available to be able to address the issue more professionally such as chemical, or mercury spill that has specific set of cleaning agents and accessories to combat any threat. The fluid of various spill differ in nature because of the substance available in them. Naturally it needs to be treated in a particular way and a cookie-cutter method doesn't really go a long way. For instance the matter can be made simpler with a water spill that doesn't need any special cleaning. It would either evaporate or a gentle mop would do the needful.

You would invariably need Spill Response Kits if there's a chemical spill or oil spill that is much stubborn than a water spill. Hence the difference in cleaning agents as well. Oil spills are difficult to absorb, even if they do you would need additional assistance in terms of chemicals, bleach and other cleaning liquid that you can store easily to be used instantly when required. These are good and wise options to be stored in your work area, business houses, stores, workshops, industries and offices. You might think tissues, napkins or paper towels are handy and would serve the purpose, but it doesn't.

It would be extremely difficult to clean up oil spills because of the solution being absorbed by the papers easily and would get you in touch with the solution. It won't even soak the spill making it messier than you would have thought of. Papers get saturated very easily and it would be of no use practically. magic would make the difference. It's advisable to keep the kits handy in areas where you can expect spillage. That way you can be prepared in case of an emergency and can also prevent accidents that sometimes follow after a spill.

Whether it's a big spill or small, irrespective of the proportion if the spill kit can be used it can safely save material and life concerned.

All That You May Want to Know About Lasers!

Have you ever wondered about how lasers work and what makes them carry out the myriad functions that they carry out? Read on to find out.

Lasers are an indispensible part of our lives these days. We see them being used in so many different forms every day. Remember that cute teenager in your neighborhood who got such a big boost of confidence after getting his eyes operated through laser? Or your trip to the supermarket or to the ATM, the other day? The card that you used to make payments or withdraw money was read by a machine with the help of laser. This brilliant invention is credited to a physicist, Theodore Maiman, and it was first used successfully on May 16, 1960. Since then it has been used in various ways- from drilling holes of various diameters, ranging from a few microns to several millimeters in diameter in the hardest of metals, with pin point precision to the super fine equipment used in the aviation industry and from the technology used to fight cancer to making (GASP!) bombs of the most lethal quality, we find lasers at work everywhere. Laser beams have brought light to the eyes of the blind and have helped cosmetologists remove those ''ugly'' moles, tattoos, wrinkles and even the unsightly and unwanted ''extra'' hair to give their clients the ''Perfect'' faces and bodies that they desire.

While it would be an understatement if we say that different lasers are used to conduct different functions and that the laser which reads your Credit card would be totally inept at removing a mole from your face, this much is obvious that all lasers work by using the same fundamental principle. Even though different lasers operate at different wavelengths from ultraviolet through the visible light spectrum to infrared, they all operate on the same basic principle. So what is that principle? Find out in our next segment. Stay tuned!

Whatever the laser may be being used for, its beam should be controlled and directed with precision. The Benefits of Working With High Content Screening

High content screening, or high content analysis, is an advanced analytical process that identifies particles that alter the phenotype of a cell in a desired manner. The key benefit being the short amount of time the process takes. Advancements in the relevant technology have produced tools and techniques like high content screening that allow laboratories of variable size to take on a higher rate of experiments. Parallel acquisition of data on different cell properties has now been streamlined to the point where the required investment of both money and man-hours has been greatly reduced.

Modern advancements in the tools used in cellular biology, robotics and automated high-resolution microscopes are at the crux of the current, highly advanced state of high content analysis. In the process, cells are isolated and incubated with chemicals or RNAi reagents that flag compounds that alter cellular phenotypes. Modern techniques allow us to measure the changes in the proteins manufactured by cells at a faster rate. This ultimately allows a much higher number of parallel processes to be run.

Through high content screening, living cells can be used in biological research to compare and contrast the inner workings of diseased and healthy cells. Further applications include the ability to more precisely test drug candidates in order to better optimize and refine them. Of course the benefit of high content analysis to pharmaceutical companies has long been obvious, and its versatility in practice means that it will continue to be implemented across a wide array of fields.

Most importantly, utilizing high content analysis allows for multiple, simultaneous analyses to be run at once, allowing you and your team to track a larger number of biochemical and morphological parameters. As such, a greater number of experiments can be performed and analyzed simultaneously. Because high content screening has become more affordable in recent years, a variety of fields, including agro-chemical, clinical diagnostic, and consumer-focused production have diversified its applications through inventive investing and development. The required equipment has also been greatly reduced in size, minimizing the space needed and allowing labs of variable size to benefit. This affordability, along with the far-advanced technology and the relatively small space the equipment now occupies, has created the opportunity for a variety of fields to take advantage of high content analysis. As more and more fields capitalize on the ever-advancing technology it will be interesting to see what further developments we'll witness.

What is Boric Acid?

Boric Acid (H3B03), also referred to as Acidum Boricum, Boracic Acid, or Orthoboric Acid, is a natural product made from Oxygen, Hydrogen, and Boron. It is offered as a fine powder or as a clear or white crystalline solid, much like table salt. It's got a relatively greasy texture and is odourless and without taste.

Boric Acid is really versatile and that makes it the most popular compound from the borate group. The applications are aplenty, from nutritional to pharmaceutical, from housekeeping and gardening to industrial and from medical to cosmetic. Its low toxicity degree, at an equivalent rating to every day salt, which contributes to its common utilization in the home.

You can find Boric Acid in water and land which is where it naturally lives. In Turkey, China, the Andes in South America and Death Valley in California are where largest stores of Boric Acid can be found. It's usually located in dry, desert-like locations like volcanic locations, old salt beds and hot springs.

The usage of Boric Acid was common in earlier Middle East and China. The Chinese utilised it in porcelain glazing close to 900 AD. The Arabians utilized it while working silver and gold. Foodstuff preservation was also a very common use of Boric Acid. It's Marco Polo that is acknowledged with bringing the substance to the western world.

One of the initial Boric Acid generation techniques of combining Borax with other minerals goes back to 1702. Subsequently, it had been found that the chemical could be used as an eyewash and antiseptic. Borax afterwards evolved into a popular mineral and exploration launched around the 1860's.

Boric Acid, when taken internally, is considered to be great for joint and bone wellbeing and for arthritic treatment. It has anti-fungal and antiseptic benefits, a minimal level of acidity and is in several beauty and prescription goods. It is used as a vaginal rinse or anal suppository for candida albicans, in acne treatments, as an eyewash for pink-eye or sore eyes, as a powder for athlete's foot or as ear drops for swimmers.

Additionally it is very known as a pesticide and as a herbicide. It acts as a belly toxin and dries the pest's body. It is applied during the processing of powders and traps for the eradication of fleas, silverfish, cockroaches and bedbugs, amongst others.

Boric Acid is a relatively inert chemical substance. Consequently, it generally won't react with other sorts of chemicals. Boric Acid receives its flame-resistant characteristics via its substantial melting point of 170oC. It provides widespread uses in the manufacturing field, in particular or the manufacturing of fiberglass, cement, photography chemicals, paints and glass. It's also used by atomic energy plants to keep control on the fission process. It's able to control the number of neutrons within the chamber, thus regulating the fission process.

Boric Acid boasts a very low level of toxicity. Its toxicity amount is measured via the LD50 chart and its rating is a little higher than basic table salt. Additionally, it is also non-carcinogenic.

Still, it is advisable to be very careful with Boric Acid in sizable amounts, and also over prolonged periods of contact. In a current report, creatures subjected to a sample of 32 mg/kg of Boric Acid over a 90 day cycle developed various sicknesses, including testicular atrophy. In human beings, it is fatal at amounts of 15,000-20,000 mg for adults, 2,000-3,000 mg for infants and 5,000-6,000 mg for children.

Physiological signs that can indicate extreme exposure to Boric Acid are nausea and blisters, bright red breakouts and skin peeling, convulsions and fits, blue-green vomit, diarrhoea and drowsiness and fainting.

Difference between Micro and Nano Technology

Our scientific expeditions haven't just taken us to the realm of gigantic spatial bodies but also to the field of the minutest. Micro and Nano technology, deal with miniaturized products offering compact and highly efficient solutions. There is currently no great difference between these two fields as both of them have sort of a similar goal; to produce technological devices of the minutest sizes. The only major difference is in the scale. Nanoscale is three times smaller than the microscale.

Nanotech usually concerns itself in the atomic or molecular scale while Microtechnology deals with electrical and mechanical devices that are near one millionth of a metre in size. Operations related to both of them however, require a similar setup which is free of dust and dirt. Additional steps, like special dress codes etc. are taken to ensure that no dust particles interact with the minute products. The following section of the article, tries to bring out some of the important differences in these two fields with a view to bring out a clearer picture.

Scale

This is one of the clearer distinctions between micro and nano technology. A micrometer is 106 m while a nanometer is 109 m. Scientists have observed that several different phenomena show up as the size decreases. Hence the applicable theories regarding the two fields are also somewhat different. More of quantum mechanics plays a hand in nanotech. Over the last few years, many products that were under the scope of Microtechnology have further scaled down and are being treated as nanotech products.

Applications

Differences between micro and nano technology can also be seen in the different applications of the two fields. Microelectromechanical System or MEMS is probably the most popular application of Microtechnology. MEMS devices contain mechanical components as well as electronic circuits embedded onto a small chip. Nanotechnology has received more attention in the recent years has various applications in many areas such as healthcare, IT, automobile, textile and biochemical industries.

Nanotech as the Heir to Microtechnology

Micro and nano technology are currently the most popular areas of scientific study. Nanotechnology is expected to be the next major revolution and more attention and funding is now being diverted towards this field. Nanotech has taken over many applications that were previously under the scope of Microtechnology. Governments, educational institutions and major companies throughout the globe are now investing mostly on nanotechnology research and development.

Neuro Linguistic Programming Training Courses Will Bring Benefits to Your Life

Living in the fast paced world which we do, we tend to forget that there are alternative ways to deal with everything, including stress and unhappiness. This is where many people have discovered the benefits of neuro linguistic programming. People are finding that neuro linguistic programming courses are helping them to find a better balance and to deal with the stresses of everyday living.

You will find that there is neuro linguistic programming training courses springing up throughout the country and whether it is neuro linguistic programming training Newcastle or neuro linguistic programming training Tyneside, everyone is jumping on to the bandwagon. Although it may seem complicated or long winded, the basic principles are very simple and have been around for decades now.

Is Neuro linguistic programming a "therapy"?

Dr Bandler often distinguishes between Neuro linguistic programming and therapy by defining Neuro linguistic programming as an educational process which can be used to do the things that psychotherapy so rarely manages: to bring about lasting and constructive change. Neuro linguistic programming differs from most therapies in that it is solutions-oriented. It is not interested in analysing and dissecting a "problem", but rather focuses on finding satisfactory outcomes for clients.

You can lower your levels of unhappiness or raise the levels of happiness by transforming your belief portfolio, your preconceived notions, your language patterns that display your innermost feelings, and your unconscious mind that exposes your conscious reactions to the external world. You can similarly get rid of your phobias, if any, by going into the factors that cause your fear in the first place, with the help of neuro linguistic programming training. You can look at things in the way that your adversaries do. You can consider the same things from a totally new perspective. You can study people who have achieved excellence in any particular aspect of their life, find out what qualities and factors contributed to their success and then import the same or similar factors and qualities into your life in an effort to achieve excellence in your chosen field.

It is not possible to NOT communicate with others. We are always communicating, at least non-verbally and even thoughts are communication with the self. The meaning of your communication is the response you get. Communication is not what is intended, but what is received. In short, neuro linguistic programming transforms you into a new you, a happier you and a more effective you, capable of dealing with this world in a much better way than before.

The right neuro linguistic programming course has the ability to make huge and positive changes in both your personal life and in your professional life also. You will find that you have a new confidence in the way that you approach not only every day, but also any problems which may arise. You will have a better understanding of other people and this will make it easier for you to communicate with them professionally and to interact better on a personal level.

The History of Physics

Physics is the study of matter and energy and how these forces interact with space, time and gravity. The study of physics has dated back to the ancient Greeks and fundamentals can be found in writings from Aristotle and Plato. Originally there were not many experiments that could be conducted at that time so physics took on more of a role of theory and tied in closely with many aspects of philosophy at the time. Originally this division of science was referred to as "natural philosophy" and it wasn't until late into the 19th century when it took upon the name physics. Physics played an integral role in the philosophies of ancient civilizations and can be found in ancient Greek, ancient Muslims, ancient Chinese and ancient Indians.

Thales was a philosopher in Greece in the 7th and 6th century BC who today is revered by many as the father of science. Anaximander was another philosopher about a century later who is credited to theorizing the first evolutionary theory which is now known as proto-evolutionary theory. Plato's student Aristotle is credited to writing about a number of topics including physics, biology and mathematics. Archimedes was a mathematician who wrote a great deal about mechanics, buoyancy, equilibrium and gravity. In the 1st century BC Hipparchus wrote about astronomy and mathematics and devised a map of the starts and predicted solar eclipses. And finally Ptolemy was regarded highly among his colleges and later scientists for his development of the scientific treatises. The Greeks played a key role in the foundation of scientific studies which would later be adopted by other civilizations across the world.

Much of the knowledge first written by ancient Greeks eventually found its way into the Muslim world before the 5th century AD. During the European Dark Ages (5th - 15th century) tremendous advancements were made by Muslim scientists. A facility existed in Baghdad, Iraq called the House of Wisdom which held the works of many of the great Muslim scientists of the ancient world. Some of the leading figures included Al-Kindi, Al-Farabi and Averroes who expanded upon the Greek philosophies and adapted them for the Muslim religion. Perhaps one of the greatest discoveries that came about form the Muslim world during this time was the discovery of optics by Ibn al-Haytham who lived between (965 - 1040 AD) and was a mathematician in Basra, Iraq. His research was based off the writings of Ptolemy's and Aristotle's observations on light. Nasir al-Din al-Tusi (1201 - 1274 AD) was a mathematician and astronomer who was credited to authoring the Treasury of Astronomy which was one of the most accurate tables describing planetary movement of its time.

Scientific studies in the ancient world helped to lead to the Renaissance and many other cultural and intellectual developments across many civilizations. Physics began initially as a philosophy but soon began to take on a variety of disciplines. These branches of physics continued to evolve into what can be studied today. Ironically the origins of physics began as philosophy and today theoretical physics is one of the most famous and intriguing disciplines within the community of physicists almost coming full circle.

Science news and publishings by scientists and physicists continues to provide knowledge about our natural world such as the discovery of the Higgs boson particle recently. Among the various branches of physics theoretical physics is perhaps on of the most promising areas of expansion possible to building pathways to a future we currently can only dream of. PET-MRI Scanner and its Use in Clinical Trials

Apart from PET-CT (Positron Emission Tomography-Computed Tomography) another hybrid imaging technology that is available in the market is a hybrid of PET-MR (Positron Emission Tomography-Magnetic Resonance). This hybrid helps in the incorporation of morphological imaging of soft tissue using MR scanning and functional imaging using PET. Morphological imaging provides the information on form, shape and structure of the organ imaged, and functional imaging helps to determine or measure changes in metabolism, blood flow, chemical composition and absorption in a particular region or organ, and these information's are highly essential in diagnosing or examining a disease or the response to drugs. There are very few companies that have manufactured the hybrid of PET-MR scanner which includes Siemens, Philips, GE etc. Philips was the first scanner in which whole body PET-MR systems were installed in a medical facility in US and Europe. This hybrid scanner is the newest technology in medical imaging which started being available in the market only in the year 2012. Even though this hybrid model is currently available in the market, there is still a significant amount of work that is required to overcome all the technical hurdles and develop the technology further. This scanner has been said to be a revolutionary technology in clinical nuclear medicine and shows promise in forming a highly dependable and accurate method in diagnosing different types of cancers. At the same time it also helps to determine the accurate therapy or treatment for patients for their conditions.

When multimodality imaging first came into picture that is by use of PET-CT, it had brought about a new perspective in the field of pre-clinical and clinical imaging trials. Studies have shown that combining the anatomical structures that are obtained from CT imaging and functional aspects of the body revealed in PET images with high accuracy in fusing them generates an advanced diagnostic tool and research platform. Although PET-CT brought about a significant improvement in health care industry by their use in clinical studies, it has certain drawbacks. One of the major limitations is that when a significant radiation dose is used on patients and/or animals, CT generates limited soft tissue contrast. Another limitation with PET-CT is that it does not allow simultaneous data acquisition as the PET and CT scanners are hard-wired back to back. It only allows sequential scanning which is a temporal mismatch that leads to artifacts in patient scanning. Thus in order to overcome these drawbacks or limitations, further researches were done with the aim of combining PET and MR imaging systems into a single machine. The main goal was to ensure simultaneous data acquisition by integrating PET detectors into MR imaging scanner thereby generating the desired soft tissue contrast that would be displayed on images obtained simultaneously from PET- MR which has now captured a fusion of functional and morphological aspects of the human body. This type of images generated also provides excellent anatomical spatial resolution and highly accurate fusion temporal and spatial images. In addition to the above mentioned attributes, spectroscopic information can also be generated with this hybrid scanner. It also provides in vivo multi-functional information of physiological processes. Initial experiments and studies conducted with PET-MR scanners showed conclusive and promising results proving its great potential for clinical and non-clinical imaging research studies.

Additional score points for PET-MR imaging scanners are that, it is a completely radiation free technology that enables patients to give consent to participate in a clinical trial without the fear of radiation exposure. It takes up to 50% less scanning time as compared to other medical imaging techniques. It's highly cost effective hence many hospitals have incorporated these scanners. Thus sponsors planning to conduct clinical study with the use of these scanners easily can locate sites that would be interested to participate in the study, and hence move on to each step in the research rather quickly. Clinical application of PET-MR imaging scanners include studies on brain: brain at activation and rest, in de-coding brain networks and its function, head and neck cancer, lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, ovarian cancer, colorectal cancer, lymphoma and pediatric neoplasm.

To sum up, PET-MR imaging scanning is a revolution in diagnostic imaging for life. NLP Certification Programs - Similar in Content but Different in Style

You will probably have heard the saying that "it's not what you do it's the way that you do it." This applies to most everything and the important thing to keep in mind is the fact that we all do things differently but most of want the same results. We all wish to be happy, wealthy, successful and healthy but we follow different paths to achieve these results. NLP certification training is one path which you can choose to follow.

For those of you who have been living under a stone for the past few years a quick summary of NLP and NLP certification may be useful. When you learn NLP, you learn specific skills and patterns necessary to make positive changes, create new choices, be more effective with others, break free of old habits, self-destructive patterns and behaviours, and think more clearly about what it is you want and how to get it.

What is Neuro-Linguistic Programming?

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is the science of modelling the patterns of human behaviour. NLP explores the inner workings of the human mind: how we think, how we develop our desires, goals and fears and how we motivate ourselves, make connections, and give meaning to our experiences. NLP is like the 'user's manual' for the mind, and allows us to use the language of the mind to consistently achieve our specific and desired outcomes.

Completing an NLP certification course and getting the right NLP certifications can help you to understand the source of your thoughts, emotions and behaviours, and how to;

. Gain control of your life.

. Get motivated and stay motivated.

. Identify clear outcomes in all areas of your life.

. Make your goals come true.

. Eliminate limiting beliefs and decisions.

. Release unwanted emotions and behaviours from the past.

You can use NLP to create harmonious and fulfilling relationships

. Attract the right person for you.

. Improve the quality of your marriage.

. Create ideal relationships.

. Create your desired self-image.

. Create instant rapport with others.

The methods of neuro-linguistic programming are the specific techniques used to perform and teach Neuro-Linguistic Programming, a movement which teaches that with people are only able to perceive a small part of the world using their senses, and that this view of the world is filtered by experience, beliefs, values, assumptions, and biological sensory systems. NLP argues that people act and feel based on their perception of the world rather than the real world.

Typically, many people have difficulty maintaining a focused state of concentration, confidence, enthusiasm, inspiration, motivation, influence, or learning. NLP techniques allow you to automatically access any state you choose, and to be flexible enough to achieve the desired result. There are many different NLP certification programs available and you need to see what is best for you. Generally you will find that most NLP certification training is similar in content but the styles and methods may differ. You need to consider the length, the cost and the final NLP certification that you will end up with eventually.

How to Utilize Automated Laboratory Processes to Stay Relevant

Investments in drug discovery technologies continue to reward the scientific community at large with developments in analytic procedures like cell based assays. As the need for constant improvement drives investors to seek out the next big thing, we continue to see incredible developments in drug discovery technologies worldwide. Keeping pace with the developments can be difficult, but indeed the need the do so far outweighs the difficulty.

These developments have brought numerous benefits to the lab, including the removal of the need for manual cell counting. Like many advancements in recent years, improvements in various cell based assays have rewarded researchers with improved efficiency and more accurate results. Cell based assays utilize cell counts to measure a variety of information-including the number of living cells or particular cell ratios-and depend on the requisite equipment's ability to accurately measure changes in specific physical characteristics, such as fluctuations in electrical current or light transmission. While that necessary precision required the undivided attention of lab techs in the past, today's cell based assays can instead depend on advanced automated equipment and techniques. The advancements in the relevant drug discovery technologies has led to the production of equipment and techniques that far surpass the limits we had once imagined these machines would be capable of. More automation in the processes themselves have freed up time for teams to focus their attentions and interests on more pertinent points of interest elsewhere.

As the technology utilized in drug discovery continues to advance and divest to suit wider needs, we're seeing a variety of benefits. The automation that cell based assays have benefited from has spread to other fields, labs and processes. Worldwide, we're seeing the implementation of other automated processes that can handle incredibly complicated tasks. While these tasks were once seen as too complex, valuable or demanding to simply leave in the hands of a machine, more and more R&D centers are coming to depend on them for a variety of reasons. Indeed, the most pertinent reason may be the significant amount of time and manpower that these automated processes free up. With a top of the line machine of sufficient sophistication, a surprising number of repetitive processes can now be accomplished with the bare minimum of human input. Considering adopting more automated processes is no longer a luxury for the most well funded labs. Instead, with each and every day it's quickly becoming a requirement for any lab that's hoping to stay relevant.
